A calmer background for focused work

Zen mode turns the desktop behind your Toone panels into an ambient video surface. The panels remain available while the surrounding environment becomes less visually fragmented.

Zen Mode puts an ambient video behind your panels; the panels stay where they are.

Choose the atmosphere

Select an ambient video in Settings before activating Zen mode. The chosen video becomes the background for the panel workspace, and the selection remains available for the next session.

Settings → Zen Mode: pick the ambient video.

Enter and leave quickly

Toggle Zen mode from Toone or assign its global shortcut. Press Escape when you want to leave the mode and return to the ordinary desktop.

Settings → Zen Mode → Hotkey: ⌥Z turns Zen mode on and off; Esc also leaves it.

Control the audio

When the selected media includes audio, use the Toone menu controls to mute or unmute it without leaving Zen mode.

Right-click the Toone menu-bar icon to mute the Zen audio or leave Zen mode.
